Hyundai Palisade transmission fluid change question

I've seen that Hyundai says the transmission in the Palisade doesn't require a fluid change ever. That's quite a departure from the typical routine, where most cars need their transmission fluid changed around every 30,000 miles. Has anyone done any research or have more insights on what makes the Palisade's transmission unique? I'm just curious if this represents a shift in automotive technology or if there's another explanation.

From what I've gathered, the transmission uses high quality synthetic fluid and is sealed tighter than older designs, so it's meant to go the distance without service under normal driving but normal in this case now is doing a lot of heavy lifting there.

Yeah, that lifetime fluid thing definitely raises eyebrows. I agree that it's more of the sealed transmissions and synthetic fluid lasting longer but not forever i think. Anyone here gone ahead and changed it anyway for peace of mind?

Yeah, I've encountered that issue with a few lifetime fill transmissions over the years. I once had a Santa Fe that made the same claim. Around 60,000 miles, I took it to the dealer to have the fluid checked, and it was definitely darker than when it was new. And yes, I ended up doing a drain and fill myself at 70,000 miles just for peace of mind.

I get that the new synthetic fluids and sealed systems are supposed to last a lot longer, but when they say lifetime, it usually just means until the warranty runs out

Yep, lifetime really just means the warranty period. Good call on changing the fluid at 70,000 miles. Seeing it dark at 60,000 miles proves why it's needed. Even the best stuff breaks down over time. Spending a couple hundred now is way better than a four grand repair later.
