Extended warranty worth it?

Has anyone purchased Hyundai's extended warranty? We're thinking of getting a 2025 Palisade Calligraphy and the dealer said she can give us a good price if we buy the Hyundai Protection Plan Vehicle Service Contract. But is it even worth it? How much do you think we can save if we buy it now instead of buying the extended warranty later on after purchase? I'd appreciate advice!

The price they give you at the time of purchase is usually lower, my wife's one was about $1,400 for 10 yrs/100k miles bumper to bumper, no deductible. If you wait, you might still be able to buy it before your 3/36k warranty runs out, but it'll likely cost more and they might be less flexible on price.

I decided to go with the extended warranty when I bought my Hyundai new, and it really paid off, I had some costly repairs around 80,000 miles that would've set me back quite a bit if I hadn't had it. The price the dealer offered right away was definitely better than what I found for later purchases.

If you're considering this, buying the warranty at the time of purchase usually gives you the best deal. Just be sure to check what's actually covered, some plans are more extensive than others. Have you looked into the specifics of what the Palisade's plan offers?

Extended warranties like Hyundai's are often just extra dealer profit. Unless you plan to keep your Palisade past 100,000 miles, it's usually not worth it. Shop around, though, if you can negotiate under $2,000, it might be reasonable
