Burn on the rear seat

My sister has a 2023 Palisade Limited and we noticed a burn mark on the rear passenger seat that was not there before. Got a repair quote for about $2,000, it's quite pricey, I know. Will insurance cover this?

I don't even know why it's there, we don't smoke and we mainly use this for supermarket runs and going to the office. Thanks everyone!a

Yes, it might be covered by the insurance. Burn marks from noncollision events (like a dropped ember from outside, or an electrical short) usually fall under comprehensive. She'll need to check her deductible, though. you know, $2k is high enough, it's worth reporting

@lost-item689 Insurance probably won't cover a random seat burn like that since it's usually for accidents or vandalism, it's a newer Palisade, definitely check with your dealer first, it could be a warranty or manufacturing issue
